I live in Virginia, and so many people in my pretty bougie neighborhood near DC have raised garden beds and a few greenhouses, and some have turned their yards into co-ops selling their produce to local restaurants. I wish this for everyone, everywhere. I miss having a garden.

The author visits several farms and urban gardens and shows how connecting to the land is more than growing food; it is nourishing in so many different ways.

Yay! How can the law say we can’t grow our own food? It’s like those rules that prohibit residents from hanging laundry in the sun to dry. Right to food, right to light.
