Only ruminant animals can repair the soil but the must be managed correctly.

Increasing the percentage of ruminant emissions over actual figures is exactly what the enviro whackos want the general population of non-questioners to believe. And with more and more cattle operations going to rotational grazing/regenerative ag brings those emissions down to almost zero.

Richard Teague came up with that name as an alternative to Holistic Management Planned Grazing so it would be accepted better by the science community.

Actually its not at all:

https://www.ted.com/talks/allan_savory_how_to_fight_desertification_and_reverse_climate_change

2/3rds of the earths land surface is desertifying because there isn’t enough cattle. Reinstating cattle would remove all the carbon we have create since the industrial revolution as long as we stop putting more into the atmosphere.

That figure represents ALL agriculture. Livestock accounts for over half of that and cattle represents half of that. If you were to do the math from 14.5% figure that means that cattle represents roughly 3.125% of global GHG (not so scary when you put it that way).

This is the most commonly misrepresented fact circulating the internet. The actual estimate of agricultural GHG ranges from 10-16% depending on what research you read, but the more recent models that have had more accurate accounts for fuel and energy put ag GHG at 11%. Meaning cattle would be more like 2% of all GHG.

We are working with the Savory Institute, but the more the merrier. I am looking for someone to help measure and study our practices. We are a grassfed grass finish operating ranch in Wy. The biggest challenge is when we confine. In an effort to address this, and lock up the N,P,and K, we have been bedding our cattle on cardboard boxes that would be buried in a landfill. My theory is that cattle can contribute to carbon negative scenerios by using the cardboard to lock the N,P, and K and return the carbon from the cardboard to the soil. Thank you for your time.

I was impressed that they referred to Voison’s early work on rotational grazing (he called it “rational grazing”) from 1959. Joel adopted it an has been a wonderful proponent, but he didn’t invent rotational grazing.
