And it does make if more difficult to expand. At the same time the biggest issue for farmers is the monopolies that control the price farmers get without any input from the cost to farmers. There is one farmer I know that used these LLC purchase groups to allow him to farm at a large scale. So there is a market for this type of land purchasing that works for both the farmer and the LLC. This farmer uses good farming practices to take care of the land.

Teachers that have TIAA-CREF retirement accounts own a large share of the Mississippi Delta. You could write a sensational article about teacher’s ownership of some of the finest farmland in the south and their negative impact on black farmers.
