I personally won’t touch em since I’m allergic to fruit, but my family loves em. They grow like weeds, lol. Drop a seed and off it goes. A critter or bird drops it, it’ll grow. Pawpaws everywhere, it’s ridiculous. Bees go crazy over the fruit as well. Ever see a group of drunken bees? Behold, the power of rot and natural fermebtation

I love them…heard a few years ago the University of Kentucky Agriculture schools was looking into them as a cash crop….need to check that out since I work at UK hospital…My father actually would freeze this fruit. He would collect, wrap them in paper and then plastic and have them at Christmas. They’re not supposed to freeze well..but he didn’t wash them till they were thawed and would say just don’t look at the skin and peel carefully…. eat as soon as they were thawed…they were really still good!

I started my organic farm 40 years ago, and am now semi-retired….I planted my pawpaw orchard (60trees) 7 years ago, and also have a seedling production nursery; selling pawpaw seeds, selected seedlings, and grafted pawpaw trees featuring Neal Peterson varieties. An article about me was published in Our State magazine a few years ago. They titled it The Pawpaw Queen. I also serve on the board of the North American Pawpaw Growers Association. I would love to talk with you if you have the time. Oh, also there is a sweet little Pawpaw Field Day in Winston-Salem, NC every September. Thank you again for such a beautiful article and for spreading the Pawpaw Love! Sincerely yours, Susan
