Luis Velazquez is a Gary Marx Journalism Fund intern at Investigate Midwest. Originally from Cicero, Illinois, he is also a recent graduate of the University of Illinois. Luis earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism with a minor in Latina/Latino Studies. Previously, Luis reported on a police misconduct case at Cicero Independiente, a local news outlet in his hometown, and has also worked with The Daily Illini as a news reporter and assistant news editor. He hopes to distribute factual information to those in need with his work as a Latino journalist.
